A network of interconnecting highways, as well as rail and air service, link Hanford to California's major metropolitan markets, and, ultimately, to the Western States and Pacific Rim.
Hanford's central location, together with its competitively priced industrial land, California Enterprise Zone, Foreign Trade Zone, conscientious and hardworking labor force and numerous other fine amenities, makes Hanford an ideal place to do business.
Hanford, incorporated August 8, 1891, is situated in the San Joaquin Valley midway between San Francisco, 215 miles to the north, and Los Angeles, 215 miles to the south. Located in the north central portion of the county, the city is 32 miles south of Fresno, and operates under provisions of the State Constitution and Statues as a general law city. The city has an area of 12.3 square mile.
Hanford offers a unique blend of old and new, historic and contemporary living environments. While "quality of life" is a term used by many, it is especially appropriate in Hanford where the concern and caring of its community members is obvious in the high standards maintained.
Hanford is truly one of California's hidden treasures, proud of its historic image and its professional attitude toward growth. It is the recipient of numerous awards, including the 1997 Prettiest Pained Places, Helen Putnam Award for Excellence, Tree City U.S.A. and a 1993 Governor's Preservation Award.
Hanford is a safe, family-orientated community. This historic restoration of the community and renovation of the downtown, highlight the efforts of the agricultural, agribusiness, industrial, and commercial sectors all working together to make and maintain Historic Hanford.
